Virtualization engineer

 

•          Functioning in a lead role, managing and deploying all core Citrix and virtualization technologies. Migration effort to server 2016 and windows 10 and decommissioning of legacy Citrix environments. Engaged in golden image creation and review. •         Assisted with migration from multiple Citrix farms from XenApp 6.5 to XenApp 7.15. Assisting with migration to Azure, thin client deployment.

•         Worked with all Citrix products with client. Provided direction in developing system plans for future growth as well as installing and maintaining Staples systems by creating process and procedure for usage.

•         Proficiently operated various software, operating systems and tools including IBM big fix, Vsphere, Citrix administrative tools on windows. Served as a driving force in the conversion of Staples Citrix environment from XenApp 6.5 to Xenapp 7.15.

•         Completely built out the Staples Citrix staging environment used for UAT, supported the existing infrastructure over Vmware vsphere and fulfilled coverage of client’s support.

•         Held full responsibility in installing, configuring, and documenting overall application and infrastructure environments while overseeing daily operations of current production environments.

•         SDET and Systems engineer engaged in all stages of the product development life cycle including specification design, test plan development, systems engineering, test case documentation, and systems test execution.

•         Member of the team focused on product licensing, integration, interoperability of all Citrix products.

•         Setup 100's of Xendesktop environments from XD 4 through XD 7 in a typical lab environment consisting of 50 hp blade servers, Xen server and 150 +/- virtual windows 7 desktops.

•         Deployed windows server images to 20+/- hp blade servers.

•         Work from home to remotely manage and implement Citrix Xenapp, Xendesktop, and Xenserver environments for IBM contracted clients. 

•         I was responsible for managing steady state support for Coca Cola, AT&T, SunTrust, and Motorola. 

•         Architected new Citrix environments to meet client needs base on Citrix's best practice policies. 

•         Assisted clients migrating old Xenapp environments to the latest platform.

•         Worked with project managers and other technical infrastructure people on a plan to migrate that infrastructure.  Manage steady state Xenserver, Xenapp, and Xendesktop environment for Baxter that are virtual servers.

•         Take care of all day to day Xenserver, Xendesktop, and Xenapp environment and user issues for assigned customer base. 

•         Mentored and trained new team members on advanced Citrix concepts and how to follow processes for FDA accounts.
